A family business driving people around the island we live on
Everything worth knowing in your first week — arriving, paying, getting about, staying well, and the handful of things visitors most often get wrong. Written for guests, by the people driving you.
We are a family business and we live here in Bali: the two of us, our two children, an air-conditioned car that seats six, and the Yamaha NMAX scooters we rent out under the name D&D Rental. Between us we speak English, Indonesian and Balinese.
Why we are called Anik and Made
Most Balinese share a small set of birth-order names — Wayan, Made, Nyoman and Ketut for the first four children, then round again — which is why you will meet a great many Wayans and why we are Anik and Made.

What we actually do
We run twenty tours across the island and we drive every one of them ourselves — air-conditioned private transport door to door, with fuel, parking and the driver’s time included. We do airport pickups and full-day charters, and we rent well-maintained automatic scooters to people who hold the licence and permit to ride one.
And we tell you the truth about what suits children. Every tour on this site carries a plain note on what it is like with a five-year-old, a nine-year-old or a teenager, and where something is not right for your party we will say so rather than sell it to you. Child and booster seats are free — we just need ages and weights before we collect you.
The Welcome to Bali guide is ours too. We wrote it because we kept answering the same questions in the car on the way in from the airport, and because the money-changer count and the rip currents and the licence rule are all things we would rather you knew before they mattered.

Three things we will not do
Because they are the three that cost guests the most
Tell you a place is closed
A driver saying your temple or market is shut today, and offering somewhere better that pays him a commission, is one of the oldest plays on the island. It is almost never closed. We take you where you asked to go.
Sell you a tour that will not suit your children
Every tour here has a minimum age or a supervision note, and we would rather lose the booking than put a six-year-old on the two-in-the-morning volcano run.
Rent you a bike you cannot legally ride
Indonesian law needs a motorcycle licence and an International Driving Permit, and without them most travel insurance will not pay a medical claim. We will ask. If you do not have them, we will drive you instead.
