The rule of zones
Combine within a zone, never across
The single most useful thing to know when planning Bali by road

- Gianyar75–90 min
- Ubud110–130 min
- Volcano150 min
- West180 min
Bars run from nothing to three hours, one way.
Each bar runs to the longest one-way drive in that zone, and the tour numbers on it link through. Every figure is taken from the same distance table on the transport page, so the graphic cannot disagree with the numbers.
- Combine within a zone, never across. Tours 1–7 and 13–16 all sit on one road north of Kuta, so they chain together at almost no extra driving cost. Mixing a South Bali stop with an Ubud stop adds 3–4 hours of driving to the day.
- The Kuta–Ubud run costs 1.5–2 hours each way. Once you have paid it, add three or four stops rather than one.
- Three tours cannot be combined with anything: 18 Nusa Penida, 13 Batur sunrise and 8 Monkey River. Each is a full day on its own.
- Travelling with young children? Days B, E and G are built for you — the shortest drives and the fewest steps. Ask us to split any long day into two shorter ones.
Build your own
Or tell us the days and we will shape them
Send us how long you are here and the ages in your party, and we will lay the week out — which days pair, which need their own day, and where to put the long drives so nobody is in the car at four in the afternoon.
