The twenty tours

  • A Barong performer in an elaborate gilded lion mask with a red and gold beard, mid-performance on an open-air temple stage, a gamelan orchestra of bronze gongs blurred behind.1

    Culture & Heritage

    Traditional Barong & Rangda Dance

Batubulan · 60–75 min from Kuta

    Great for kids

Bali's most famous sacred drama, performed daily with a full gamelan orchestra. Barong, the benevolent lion-like guardian, faces Rangda the widow-witch — an eternal contest between order and chaos that ends in balance rather than victory. Elaborate masks, gilded costumes and the trance-like kris dance make this the ideal introduction to Balinese belief.

Tour 1 in full: Traditional Barong & Rangda Dance

  • The quiet courtyard of an ancient Balinese village temple: a carved split gate, tiered black-thatch shrines and dark volcanic stone furred with green moss.2

    Culture & Heritage

    Batuan Temple

Batuan · 70–80 min from Kuta

    Great for kids

A thousand-year-old village temple in classic Balinese style — split gates, tiered meru shrines and stone carvings darkened by moss and monsoon. Far quieter than the headline temples, it is the place to actually feel a Balinese temple rather than photograph one.

Tour 2 in full: Batuan Temple

  • A Balinese craft workshop bench: half-finished wood carvings and a mask in progress, chisels and mallets laid out in a row, and a cloth of fine silver filigree jewellery beside them.3

    Culture & Heritage

Art Village — Celuk, Mas & Ubud

    Celuk–Mas–Ubud · 70–90 min from Kuta

    Kids with care

A chain of specialist villages, each devoted to one craft for generations. In Celuk, silversmiths granulate and solder jewellery at open benches. In Mas, carvers work single blocks of hibiscus and ebony into figures and masks. Around Ubud, painters demonstrate the dense, foliage-filled Batuan style. Every stop includes a live demonstration and the chance to buy directly from the makers.

Tour 3 in full: Art Village — Celuk, Mas & Ubud

  • A coffee plantation tasting flight on a dark wooden board above a jungle valley — a dozen small cups of coloured coffees and teas, with red coffee cherries and cacao pods beside them.4

    Culture & Heritage

    Traditional Coffee Plantation

Tegallalang area · 100–130 min from Kuta

    Great for kids

A walk through a working agroforestry garden — cacao, vanilla, cloves, ginger and coffee grown under shade. Watch beans roasted by hand in a clay wok over a wood fire, then sit above the valley for a tasting flight of a dozen teas and coffees, from lemongrass to mangosteen.

Tour 4 in full: Traditional Coffee Plantation

  • The Tegallalang rice terraces: emerald paddies stacked in curving steps down a steep valley, narrow earth paths between them and coconut palms along the ridge.5

    Nature & Landscape

    Tegallalang Rice Terrace

Tegallalang · 100–130 min from Kuta

    Kids with care

Emerald terraces stacked down a steep valley, irrigated by subak — the cooperative water system Bali has used since the ninth century and now UNESCO-listed. Walk the ridge paths between the paddies, or simply take the view from a terrace café with a coconut in hand.

Tour 5 in full: Tegallalang Rice Terrace

  • A tall jungle waterfall falling into a clear green plunge pool in a steep gorge of wet black volcanic rock, ferns and vines crowding the walls.6

    Nature & Landscape

    Waterfall Visit

Tegenungan · Tibumana · 75–90 min from Kuta

    Kids with care

Choose between a wide, powerful curtain of water in an open gorge, a slender jungle fall with a calm swimming pool, or a fan of water sliding over stepped black rock. All sit in cool river valleys reached by a short flight of steps through the trees.

Tour 6 in full: Waterfall Visit

  • A narrow wooden boat gliding through a tunnel of mangrove roots on a still, glassy river in west Bali, with a bright kingfisher on a low branch.8

    Nature & Landscape

    Monkey River Cruise

West Bali · 2.5–3 hrs from Kuta

    Great for kids

A slow boat through tunnels of mangrove, where troops of macaques and monitor lizards gather on the banks and kingfishers cut across the water. A calm, shaded counterpoint to the busier inland attractions.

Tour 8 in full: Monkey River Cruise

  • A Sumatran tiger resting on a low rock in dense tropical garden planting, deep green foliage and palms all around.9

    Wildlife Parks

    Bali Zoo

Singapadu · 70–90 min from Kuta

    Great for kids

A lush, walk-through zoo built into tropical garden rather than concrete. Home to Sumatran tigers, orangutans, elephants and komodo dragons, with keeper talks through the day and optional breakfast beside the elephant enclosure.

Tour 9 in full: Bali Zoo

  • Two Bali starlings — white crested birds with vivid blue eye patches — perched beside a large colourful hornbill in a lush tropical garden aviary.10

    Wildlife Parks

    Bali Bird Park

Batubulan · 60–75 min from Kuta

    Great for kids

Two hectares of themed gardens holding around 250 species from Indonesia, South America and Africa — including the near-extinct Bali starling, hornbills, toucans and birds of paradise. Free-flight shows and a walk-in Papuan aviary run to a fixed daily schedule.

Tour 10 in full: Bali Bird Park

  • A vivid green tree python coiled on a mossy branch, with a komodo dragon resting on dark volcanic sand behind it.11

    Wildlife Parks

    Bali Reptile Park

Batubulan · 60–75 min from Kuta

    Great for kids

One of Asia's most complete reptile collections: komodo dragons, king cobras, green tree pythons, iguanas and crocodiles, plus handling sessions for anyone who wants a photograph with a python across the shoulders.

Tour 11 in full: Bali Reptile Park

  • A green sea turtle swimming in shallow, brilliantly clear turquoise water over pale sand, sunlight rippling across the seabed and a boat hull faint at the surface above.12

    Wildlife Parks

    Turtle Island (Serangan)

Serangan · 25–35 min from Kuta

    Great for kids

A short glass-bottom boat ride across the bay to a conservation and breeding centre, where green and hawksbill turtles are cared for before release. Hatchlings, plus rescued birds, bats and iguanas, can be seen and fed under supervision.

Tour 12 in full: Turtle Island (Serangan)

  • A quad bike on a muddy plantation track between rice fields and banana palms, mud splashed up the wheels. The rider wears a full helmet.15

    Adventure & Adrenaline

    ATV Quad Bike

Payangan · 100–130 min from Kuta

    Older kids & up

Ride single or tandem through rice fields, river crossings, plantation tracks and a lit cave tunnel. Guides lead in small groups and full instruction is given, so no previous experience is needed — but you will finish covered in mud.

Tour 15 in full: ATV Quad Bike

  • An empty wooden swing seat hanging on long ropes from a tall tree, swinging out over a deep jungle river gorge with a terraced green valley far below.16

    Adventure & Adrenaline

    Bali Swing

North Ubud · 90–120 min from Kuta

    Kids with care

Tandem and single swings launched out over a jungle river gorge, alongside nests, platforms and glass-floor viewpoints. Harnesses and staff photographers are included at most locations, with heights from a gentle 10 m up to 78 m.

Tour 16 in full: Bali Swing

  • Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida: a towering green-topped limestone headland dropping in sheer cliffs to a crescent of white sand and turquoise ocean far below.18

    Islands, Leisure & Transport

    Nusa Penida Island Tour

Nusa Penida · 40 min + 45 min from Kuta

    Older kids & up

The most dramatic scenery in the Bali region, 45 minutes across the strait. The west route takes in Kelingking Beach — the cliff shaped like a tyrannosaur's head — Angel's Billabong, Broken Beach and Crystal Bay. The east route covers Diamond Beach, Atuh and Thousand Islands viewpoint. Snorkelling with manta rays can be added.

Tour 18 in full: Nusa Penida Island Tour

  • A clifftop infinity pool at golden hour above Melasti, its edge appearing to spill into the Indian Ocean, with empty day beds and thatched cabanas along the terrace.19

    Islands, Leisure & Transport

    OMMA Day Club

Melasti, Uluwatu · 45–60 min from Kuta

    Older kids & up

A clifftop beach club above Melasti, built around infinity pools that seem to spill into the Indian Ocean. Day beds, cabanas, Mediterranean and Asian menus and resident DJs make it the natural place to end a Bukit-peninsula day as the sun drops behind the surf.

Tour 19 in full: OMMA Day Club
